A pair of events in September will give Harrisonville residents the opportunity to safely and responsibly dispose of a wide variety of unwanted items.
SEPTEMBER 17: The first event on the schedule is the fall City-Wide Clean Up.
The event will be held at the GFL/WCA facility, located at 22820 MO-291. Gates will be open from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m.
Residents will unload their own vehicles, with the assistance of City and GFL staff.
Items accepted at no cost: Non-Freon appliances and metal items, water heaters, furniture, light construction debris (limited to one 16-foot trailer), and household trash.
Items not accepted: Refrigerant items (refrigerators and air conditioners), tires, auto batteries, oil, hazardous chemicals, paint, roofing shingles and yard waste.
This event is only available for those who live within the City limits. To participate, residents will be required to provide proof of residency within the incorporated City limits of Harrisonville. For example, a City of Harrisonville utility-billing statement.
GFL would also like to remind residents that they will pick up one bulky item per month, for free. To get your free item picked up, contact GFL's Customer Service Department (816) 380-5595 or email kccustomercare@gflenv.com
SEPTEMBER 24: The second event on the schedule is the fall City-Wide Brush Drop Off.
The drop off location will be open from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. on both days, with gates closing promptly at 5 p.m.
To access the drop off site, residents should drive to City Park at Bradley Avenue and Ash Street and follow event signs. Crews will be available to help unload trailers.
Crews ask that all limbs be less than 10 inches in diameter and want to remind residents that no yard waste will be accepted.
The drop off event is limited to those living within the Harrisonville City limits. Contractors will not be permitted to use the service. Residents should be prepared to show proof of residency, such as a utility bill, before using the drop off.
Mulch and compost will NOT be available this year.
