As we enter spring, the City will once again offer multiple options for safely and responsibly disposing of unwanted items.
There will be one noticeable difference to the list of scheduled events, as we will be canceling the Spring Brush Drop Off event. Due to the dam and spillway construction inside City Park, the roads to the brush drop off location are not suitable for vehicle traffic. These roads will be repaved before the projects are completed, but during the projects have been turned to dirt. Staff plan to hold the Fall Brush Drop Off event on schedule, as the project is on course to be completed at that time.
CITY-WIDE CLEAN UP
The first event on the schedule is the spring City-Wide Clean Up.
This year, the event will be held on two Saturdays, instead of the standard Friday/Saturday event. The City once again be using the GFL/WCA facility, located at 22820 MO-291, as the host for the event. Gates will be open from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.
Residents will unload their own vehicles, with the assistance of City and GFL staff.
Items accepted at no cost: Non-Freon appliances and metal items, water heaters, furniture, light construction debris (limited to one 16-foot trailer), and household trash.
Items not accepted: Refrigerant items (refrigerators and air conditioners), tires, auto batteries, oil, hazardous chemicals, paint, roofing shingles and yard waste.
This event is only available for those who live within the City limits. To participate, residents will be required to provide proof of residency within the incorporated City limits of Harrisonville. For example, a City of Harrisonville utility-billing statement.

HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE REMOVAL
The second event on the schedule is the annual Household Hazardous Waste Disposal, from 8 a.m. until noon (or until capacity is reached) on June 18. The event will be held at the Harrisonville Streets Department facility, located at 1403 S Independence Street.
HHW includes products such as paint, automotive fluids, cleaners, lawn and garden products, bug sprays, fluorescent light bulbs, batteries and nail polish. When dropping off items, please remain in your vehicle and turn your motor off.

As you prepare for the event, please follow these tips for gathering your HHW for safe disposal:
