Stream clean-up event planned for October 17

2020 Watershed Stream Cleanup Event Map

Join your friends, neighbors, City officials, community groups and others, as they partner to remove waste and debris from some of the vital water ways in Harrisonville.

There is strength in numbers. Although an individual can accomplish a lot, when many individuals cooperate and work toward a common goal, such as protecting a watershed, the results of their efforts are multiplied and are more likely to be successful. Healthy water for drinking and personal use and for crucial habitat is a need we all share, and it is a goal we can all work together to achieve.

SCHEDULE:

8:30    Register at information tent—Harrisonville City Lot: 800 N. Independence, Harrisonville, MO 6470

Breakfast

Stream/watershed information available

9:00   Pick up trash and/or remove exotic invasive Japanese bush honeysuckle along stream corridor.

11:00   Stream monitoring demonstration (by Missouri Stream Teams) learn what the bugs in the stream tell us about the water quality.

11:30   Lunch and socializing

We can be far more influential in securing healthy waters in our watershed if we share both our interest in watershed health and information about how to protect the waters with our friends, neighbors and elected officials.

Bring your family and your own reusable bottle of water. Wear appropriate clothing and shoes. Safety training, gloves, trash bags and loppers will be provided.

To comply with COVID 19 guidelines: Bring a mask to wear when near others and practice social distancing throughout the event.

This event is sponsored by the South Grand River Watershed Alliance, City of Harrisonville (Street Department & Parks and Recreation), Missouri Stream Teams, and the Missouri Department of Conservation. For more information, visit www.sgrwa.org
