[ARCHIVED] Trio of clean-up events planned for October

City-Wide Clean-up spring 2019

During the month of October, a trio of events will give Harrisonville residents the opportunity to safely and responsibly dispose of a wide variety of unwanted items.

The first event on the schedule is the fall City-Wide Clean Up, from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. on October 10. The event will be held at the Harrisonville Streets Department facility, located at 1403 S Independence Street. (For traffic information, see the map at the bottom of this page.)

Items accepted at no cost: non-Freon appliances and metal items, water heaters, furniture, light construction debris, limited to one 16-foot trailer, and household trash.

Items not accepted: Freon appliances, tires, auto batteries, oil, hazardous chemicals, paint, roofing shingles and yard waste.

This event is only available for those who live within the City limits. To participate, residents will be required to provide proof of residency within the incorporated City limits of Harrisonville. For example, a City of Harrisonville utility-billing statement.

Municipal Waste Services would also like to remind residents that they will pick up one bulky item per month, for free. To get your free item picked up, contact Municipal Waste Services (816) 406-9700 to schedule the pick-up.

The second event on the schedule is the fall City-Wide Brush Drop Off, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on October 16-17.

The drop off location will be open from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. on both days, with gates closing promptly at 5 p.m.

To access the drop off site,residents should drive to City Park at Bradley Avenue and Ash Street and follow event signs. Crews will be available to help unload trailers.

Crews ask that all limbs be less than 10 inches in diameter and want to remind residents that no yard waste will be accepted.

The drop off event is limited to those living within the Harrisonville City limits. Contractors will not be permitted to use the service. Residents should be prepared to show proof of residency, such as a utility bill, before using the drop off.

Unlike in years past, mulch and compost will NOT be available this year.

The third event on the schedule is the Cass County Sustainability Committee’s E-Waste Collection Event on Saturday, October 24, in the Family Center parking lot at Mill-Walk Mall. The event will run from 8 a.m. until noon.

 E-Waste recycling events will take your electronics for safe destruction and recycling.

Many items are accepted for free; others require a small fee to be accepted. A fee will apply to all CRT Monitors and CRT Televisions; this is due to the hazardous nature of some components in these items.  All other items can be recycled for free.

Fees will apply for:

CRT computer monitors: $20/each;
