[ARCHIVED] Park Board votes to close Outdoor Pool for 2020 season, due to COVID-19 pandemic

On Tuesday, May 5, the Harrisonville Park Board made the very difficult decision to close the Outdoor Pool for the 2020 season.

With the current state of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the unknown of future state and health department guidelines, it would be difficult to operate the Outdoor Pool in a way that ensures the safety and wellness of our community.  The Park Board also cited the financial concerns, with the potential for low attendance and the guaranteed loss of sales tax for the City of Harrisonville during the COVID-19 Stay at Home Order.

We understand that this closure will alter the plans of many families during the summer and we sympathize with you.

Several other cities have closed their Outdoor Pool for similar reasons. Many scenarios were reviewed, but this was a unanimous decision by the Park Board.

The Community Center is opening on Monday, May 11, with social distancing guidelines of 6-feet distance apart in place.  All areas of the Center will be open. There are 30-day and 90-day Passes, and Annual Memberships available to the Community Center, which does include an indoor pool.
