Located firmly in the center of the Heartland, Harrisonville sees a wide variety of weather patterns throughout each year.
With that in mind, it is important to remember the dangers that many of these weather patterns can bring and to stay weather aware during any season.
As we enter the spring-storm season, we want to invite residents to the first annual Weather-Aware Saturday event!
From 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., on March 7, residents will be able to tour each of the three new storm shelters available to our community and speak with first responders about the importance of being weather aware.
As a reminder, the new storm shelters are:
First Baptist Church of Harrisonville – (504 W Wall Street)
Our Lady of Lourdes – Harrisonville – (2700 E Mechanic Street)
Antioch Southern Baptist Church – (2601 E Mechanic Street)
The event will give residents an opportunity to establish a personalized severe-weather plan, specific to their home, and to learn about the potential dangers of severe weather in the Midwest.
Taking appropriate shelter is critical in times of disaster. And being aware of the resources available to you could save your life.
