[ARCHIVED] Cass County E-Waste Collection Event to be held in Harrisonville

STOCK: old computers

Cass County residents needing to dispose of electronic waste items will soon be able to do so at an event in Harrisonville.

The Cass County Sustainability Committee will hold an E-Waste Collection Event on Saturday, October 19, in the Family Center parking lot at Mill-Walk Mall. The event will run from 8 a.m. until noon.

E-Waste recycling events will take your electronics for safe destruction and recycling.

Many items are accepted for free; others require a small fee to be accepted. A fee will apply to all CRT Monitors and CRT Televisions; this is due to the hazardous nature of some components in these items.  All other items can be recycled for free.

Items accepted at no charge include: computers, keyboards, printers, laptops, tablets, cell phones, telephones, cassette players, DVD/CD players and VCRs.

Fees will apply for:

CRT computer monitors: $20/each;

CRT based televisions: $20/each;

Console and Rear Projection TVs: $20/each

Flat Screens (LCD & Plasma): $5 each

Applicable fees must be paid for by cash or check.  Please leave original packaging at home.

Items not accepted include: CDs, floppy disks, flash drives or VCR tapes.
