OverviewKeith Moody

The City of Harrisonville currently utilizes a board of aldermen/city administrator form of city government.  The position of Harrisonville City Administrator was created on September 4, 1985.  Keith Moody, left, has served as City Administrator since October 2008.

Under this form, the Board of Aldermen has broad legislative authority that includes formulating and adopting policy, approving the budget and levying taxes among other duties.  They concentrate on issues that are central to citizens’ needs and wishes.

The City Administrator provides professional leadership in carrying out the policies and objectives formulated by the Board of Aldermen.  This includes administering the planning, development, coordination and monitoring of programs and projects to ensure they meet the goals set by the Board of Aldermen.

The City Administrator works as a team with the Mayor and Board of Aldermen, and may make recommendations to them.  However, the administrator is bound by whatever action the board takes.
