Harrisonville Animal Shelter
The Harrisonville Animal Shelter is a modern and bright facility for sheltering homeless pets. Animals are housed inside the building in individual kennels. Dogs are also allowed outdoor exercise in two play areas constructed by the Harrisonville Rotary Club.

Please visit us if you have lost your pet or are looking for a new pet.

Lost Pets
If your pet has strayed from home, please call the Animal Shelter at 816-380-8961 to report the loss.  We may be able to help find your pet and return it to you.

We recommend that every pet wear a collar with ID tags with an owner's name and phone number.  We also encourage the use of pet microchips so ownership can be quickly and easily determined.  The Harrisonville Animal Shelter has scanners to read most major brands of microchips.

Adopting a New Pet
The Harrisonville Animal Shelter has a great assortment of four-legged tot watchers, jogging partners, paper retrievers, lap warmers, door greeters and couch potatoes to fill that empty spot in your life and heart.  Please visit us when you're planning to adopt a new pet -- you'll be giving a great animal a second chance at finding the perfect forever home.

The Adoption Process

Once you have selected your new pet and your adoption application has been approved, we will schedule an appointment with a veterinarian of your choosing to have the animal spayed or neutered.  We require all of our homeward-bound animals to be neutered to reduce the number of unwanted pets in our community.

The Harrisonville Animal Shelter provides adoption and relocation services to place animals with responsible pet owners.  While our goal is to get as many animals adopted as possible, we reserve the right to deny any adoption if we feel it is not in the best interest of the animal.

Adoption Costs
Costs vary depending on the animal chosen.  Adoption costs for dogs are $65 for males and $85 for females; for cats, $55 for males and $65 for females.

These fees cover vaccinations, micro-chipping, and sterilization of the animal.

Pet Insurance
We partner with 24PetWatch to provide new owners with a 30-Day Gift of Insurance for your new pet. To claim your gift and find more information on pet insurance, check out
