As part of Harrisonville's ongoing effort to involve citizens in our long-range planning, the city retained ETC Institute of Olathe, Kansas in January 2009 to administer a Citizen Satisfaction Survey that would gather input from residents about city services and issues.
The eight page survey was administered by phone to a random sample of 403 households in the city. The survey results have a 95% confidence level and a precision of at least +/-5.0%
An in-depth analysis of the responses was performed by ETC Institute and returned major findings on how citizens rate the quality of life in Harrisonville, view the city as a place to live and raise children, rate their satisfaction with city services, and identify service areas needing the most emphasis to improve citizen satisfaction.
The survey also presents benchmarking data in graph form which illustrates how citizen opinions in Harrisonville compare with those of people in other parts of the U.S. Additional graphs help Harrisonville determine how it ranks, compared to other cities in the metro area, on specific areas of citizen satisfaction or concern. GIS mapping reveals how city services are perceived in each of the city's four wards.
The city will repeat this process every two years to gage our progress and discover new areas where we can serve residents better.
We invite residents to review the results of this survey here. The appendices provide additional detail on each question asked, including how long respondents have lived in the city, the make up of households, and income.
