HPR is currently accepting applications for the following part-time positions:

RECREATION COORDINATOR - ATHLETICS -The City of Harrisonville is accepting applications for the full-time position of Recreation Coordinator - Athletics for the Parks and Recreation department This position will be responsible for planning, organizing, supervising and evaluating the day-to-day operation of all youth and adult sports programs and leagues as well as assists with tournaments and special events.   Work is performed under the direction of the Assistant Director. Scheduled working hours will vary depending on building/department operations and needs. Annual salary range $28,055 minimum to $35,028 mid-range, DOQ. 

 Bachelor’s Degree in Parks & Recreation, Exercise Science, or closely related field.  One year of recreation programming experience is preferred.  Must have knowledge of the professional principles, methods, and procedures in public recreation services and sports program administration. Must be able to execute and evaluate sports and recreational programs and/or services.  Exceptional interpersonal, oral and writing skills and the ability to interact positively with a diverse population.  CPR and First Aid certification preferred. Must have a valid driver’s license. Exceptional interpersonal, oral and writing skills and the ability to interact positively with a diverse population.  Knowledge of how to utilize the Microsoft Office Suite applications (mainly Word, Excel, Publisher) is required.  CPR and First Aid certification preferred – must be able to achieve within six (6) months of hire.

COMMUNITY CENTER FRONT DESK/TOT WATCH ATTENDANT & OUTDOOR AQUATIC CENTER FRONT DESK
(Must be able to work HCC opening shift starting weekdays at 4:50 a.m.; Sat. at 6:50 a.m. & Sun. at 9:50 a.m.)
Staff will provide customer service to all members and guests at the Community Center; oversee check in of members; assist in operation of photo ID computer to produce and distribute badges; operate cash register; register clients for memberships, classes & programs; answer and transfer phone calls; assist with the upkeep of the front desk as well as the upkeep of the fitness floor; enjoy working with children and be willing to rotate between the front desk and tot-watch.  Position is limited to 25 hours per week at a rate of $8 per hour. Hours of operation are M-Thurs. 5 a.m. to 9 p.m., Fri. 5 a.m. to 8 p.m., Sat. 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.and Sun. 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Must be 16 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license to be eligible to work at the Front Desk. Preference will be given to those individuals with computer experience.

SEASONAL PARKS MAINTENANCE WORKER
Staff will perform a range of manual tasks including semi-skilled and skilled work, equipment operations and park maintenance duties to maintain a safe, clean and user friendly environment for park users. Responsible for park mowing, weed-eating and trimming. Operate mowers, backhoe, seeder, aerator, trencher and similar equipment. Assist with the assembly of playgrounds and similar projects as assigned. Prepare athletic fields for use as directed. Ensure park restrooms and public facilities are in good condition. Clean park shelters as needed and empty trash barrels. Replace lights, paint lines and install nets. Inspect and repair playground equipment. Trim trees and bushes, clean and maintain park fountain and wash vehicles as needed. High school diploma or GED required. Mechanical aptitude required. Ability to safely operate equipment is required. Position is limited to 25 hours per week at a rate of $8.00 per hour. Hours are 7 a.m. to Noon, ball field schedule will vary due to weather. Must be 18 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license to be eligible.

SUMMER CAMP COUNSELORS
Assists the Recreation Coordinator & Summer Camp Director with youth program supervision. Staff will be expected to monitor youth programming at all times to ensure their safety; provide necessary instructions to implement activities; provide a friendly, caring environment; record any incidents/accidents as needed; provide exceptional customer service to all patrons of the facilities - especially parents of the children; set up and clean up all activities in various locations; provide age appropriate support and guidance to children at all times; incorporate and enforce all Harrisonville Community Center policies, rules, and regulations. Applicant must be 16 years of age. First Aid/CPR certification is preferred, but not required. Hiring preference will be given to candidates that have prior experience with children and a flexible schedule. Starting pay is $7.80 per hour.

LIFEGUARD (INDOOR & OUTDOOR POOLS) 
Maintains constant surveillance of patrons in the facility; acts immediately and appropriately to secure safety of patrons in the event of an emergency; provides emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services; attends and participates in in-service training sessions; perform various maintenance duties as directed in order to maintain a clean and safe facility; prepares appropriate activity reports; actively participates in teaching swim lessons as needed. Current certification as a lifeguard and/or the ability to get certified at individual’s own expense is required. American Red Cross Lifeguard/First Aid/CPR/AED certifications are strongly preferred. Hiring preference will be given to candidates that have a flexible schedule. Starting pay is $8 per hour.

SUMMER CAMP DIRECTOR Under the direct supervision of the Recreation Coordinator of Fitness & Youth Programs, the employee will be responsible for planning, organizing, and evaluating the day-to-day operation and recreation activities of the Summer Camp program for the Harrisonville Parks & Recreation Department. Must have a minimum of three years’ experience in camp, youth programs, recreation, children’s programming or in a related field. Bachelor’s degree or current enrollment in a degree program relevant to the position is preferred, but not required. Exceptional interpersonal, oral and writing skills and the ability to interact positively with a diverse population. CPR and First Aid certification preferred. Must have a valid driver’s license. Must be a minimum of 18 years of age. Seasonal position, 40/hours week for 14 weeks. Starting pay is $10 per hour. 
SUMMER CAMP ASSISTANT DIRECTOR
Under the direct supervision of the Recreation Coordinator of Fitness & Youth Programs, the employee will be responsible for assisting the Summer Camp Director in planning, organizing, and evaluating the day-to-day operation and recreation activities of the Summer Camp program for the Harrisonville Parks & Recreation Department. Must have experience in camp, youth programs, recreation, children’s programming or in a related field. Exceptional interpersonal, oral and writing skills and the ability to interact positively with a diverse population. CPR and First Aid certification preferred. Must have a valid driver’s license. Must be a minimum of 18 years of age. 
Concessions Attendants Performs basic duties in the operation & maintenance of concession areas at the Aquatics Center & Ballfields.  This includes receiving money for concession orders, preparing concession orders for customers, cleaning and maintaining the concession area, filling out daily paperwork. The work may include standing and sitting, and working in an enclosed environment.  The work is primarily in outside weather conditions, occasionally exposed to weather elements such as heat and humidity.  The noise level in the work environment is moderately loud. Works under the direction of the Aquatics Supervisor. Starting pay is $7.80 per hour.
