Four sergeants and 15 patrol officers staff the Patrol Division. Patrol officers perform the greatest amount of service to the Harrisonville community. They work to:
Prevent criminal activity
Protect life and property
Preserve the peace
Check suspicious persons and vehicles
Investigate crimes and offenses
The patrol officer has many roles:
Interpreter of the law
Preventive patrol is an important function of the Patrol Division. Officers make their visible presence serve as a deterrent to crime. Analysis of crime and other calls determines the assignment of officers to areas. These patrol areas are periodically reevaluated.
Servicing the Community
Special patrols are tailored for community events and other special details within the city. A patrol officer is responsible for any calls for police service. At times when there are more demands for police service, additional officers are scheduled to work. They can handle assignments, serve as a backup, and assist on calls of a serious nature. All patrol officers are under the supervision of a sergeant and lieutenant.
